Dr. Andrew Singer is a psychiatrist who also has specialist qualifications in Pain Medicine and Psychoanalysis. After completing his medical degree at the University of New South Wales, Dr. Singer worked in psychiatry in the United Kingdom and in Sydney.

He was awarded a New South Wales Institute of Psychiatry Research Fellowship for two years to investigate the use of brain imaging technologies in psychiatric conditions. He qualified as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1989. Dr. Singer commenced private practice in Chatswood and Parramatta while working as a consultant psychiatrist with the Blacktown Community Mental Health Team at Cumberland Hospital and Honorary Visiting Medical Officer in Psychiatry at Westmead Hospital. Dr. Singer has been a Visiting Medical Officer in Psychiatry at the Pain  Management and Research Centre at Royal North Shore Hospital since 2000.

Dr. Singer completed his psychoanalytical training with the Australian Psychoanalytical Society, a component society of the International Psychoanalytic Association. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, a member of The International Association for the Study of Pain, The Australian Pain Society, The Australian Psychoanalytical Society, The International Psychoanalytic Association, The European Psychoanalytic Federation and the Australian Medical Association.

Dr. Singer is interested in treating the whole patient.  He has expertise in brief and long term interventions and has considerable expertise with working in multidisciplinary teams. He has a special interest in the use of antidepressant medications in pain conditions.
